Sarah Hulme Obituary

Visiting hours will be held Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home 22 Oak Street Hyde Park followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Precious Blood Church Hyde Park at 11:00 AM.  Interment at Knollwood Memorial Park Canton, relatives and friends invited.

Sarah A. (Cotellesso) Hulme passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at the venerable age of 89, surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 15, 1935, in her family home in Hyde Park, MA, was a graduate of Hyde Park High, and remained a resident of her hometown up until just a couple of years ago due to her declining health.

She was the beloved wife of Joseph Hulme for an impressive 69 years. Their bond remained a constant up until the moment she took her last breath with him by her side.

Sarah's legacy lives on through her children: Dianne Callaghan and her husband William of Wareham, Lynne Hulme of Canton, and Joseph Hulme and his wife Colleen of Canton, who will forever remember “Ma” as a supportive mother who would always tell it like it was. She was quick to reprimand with whatever was nearby - a wooden spoon, rolling pin, frying pan, etc., but you knew you could always count on her to have your back.  Family friends were not immune to her reprimands, but you knew you were “in” if she scolded you.

Sarah took her role as oldest sibling very seriously. Her siblings, Nicholas Cotellesso and his wife JoAnn of Norwood, Ralph Cotellesso and his partner Elaine of Hyde Park, and Barbara Bilbrey of Norwood, recall Sarah's unwavering support, especially in the loss of their sister, Susan Sharrow.

Sarah's role as "Nana" was one she held very dear, a title bestowed upon her by her grandchildren William, Bryan, and Scott Callaghan, and Meghan, Jack, Erin, and Silvana Hulme. Her joy multiplied with the births of her great-grandchild: Andrew, Liam, Wade, HopeLynne, and Shaddix.

Sarah enjoyed playing cards on Friday nights, traveling, bowling, talking and shopping with her girlfriends, and above all, Sarah's greatest joy was found in the simple pleasure of spending time with family and friends.

Sarah's presence was a comforting constant at family gatherings, and her absence will be felt by the many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and great longtime friends who survive her.

Sarah A. (Cotellesso) Hulme's life was a journey of love, a journey that has not ended but simply taken a different path. She will be deeply missed, yet her legacy will continue to flourish in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.
