Multer St- Fleur, affectionately known as "Multido" to his children and loved ones, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 65. Born on April 24, 1959, in the vibrant town of Pignon, Haiti, Multer embodied the warmth, humor, and resilience of his Caribbean roots throughout his life, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
A Joyful Beginning in Pignon, Haiti
Multer was born to the late Aleus and Estelline St- Fleur, and from an early age, his charm, wit, and humor were undeniable. Growing up in the bustling, lively streets of Haiti, he became known for his quick comebacks, playful teasing, and infectious laughter that could light up any room. His family and friends fondly recall how Multer could find joy in the simplest of moments, often singing or joking around to bring a smile to their faces.
A Leap to New Beginnings in the U.S.
In 1980, Multer made a bold move to the United States, settling in Florida, where his vibrant personality flourished. Known for his warmth and charm, he quickly formed lasting friendships. In 1988, he married the love of his life, Edrige St- Fleur. After seven years in Florida, the couple relocated to Boston, where they established deep roots and built a loving family that became the center of Multer’s world. Together, they were blessed with two sons, Schneider and Schmidt.
Over the next 35 years, Multer became a beloved figure in his community and family, known for his humor and playful teasing that enlivened every gathering. His knack for creating unique nicknames for everyone in his life perfectly captured his lighthearted and endearing nature.
A Life of Hard Work and Even More Laughter
Multer spent two decades working in production at the Coca-Cola factory, where he was cherished by colleagues not just for his work ethic but for his ability to make the hardest days a little easier. Whether he was pulling off a well-timed prank or cracking a joke in Creole that left everyone in stitches, Multer had a knack for lifting spirits. He also passed down this humor to his sons, ensuring that the St. Fleur family humor would continue for generations.
Multer didn’t just brighten lives with his jokes—he also sang his way into hearts. Music was a constant in his life, and he loved serenading those around him. His custom song for both his sons Schneider and Schmidt when they were born was legendary, and the playful "Tchikichi" nickname he gave to all the kids around him remains an enduring memory for many.
The Heart of His Home
At home, Multer was the ultimate family man. He loved to cook and took pride in preparing traditional Haitian dishes like fried fish, which often became the centerpiece of joyous family meals. Multer’s kitchen was not just a place for food but a space filled with laughter, teasing, and storytelling. He loved to refer to his family as "ti pitanm," a term of endearment that made everyone feel special and uniquely cherished.
Multer’s generosity was unmatched. Whether it was helping family members navigate tricky situations, fixing things around the house, or offering sage advice wrapped in a joke, Multer was the go-to person for those in need. His ability to balance humor with heartfelt support made him irreplaceable in the lives of those around him.
Faith and Fun
Multer’s spirituality was an integral part of his life. He was a regular attendee of Bible study and church, where he found strength and solace. But even here, his humor shone through—Multer had a way of teasing his fellow churchgoers while still being a deeply faith-filled man. He instilled the values of faith, family, and fun in his children, who proudly carry on his legacy.
A Legacy of Joy
Those who knew Multer will never forget his laughter, his music, or his playful teasing. Whether he was singing a Creole love song, calling someone by their personalized nickname, or cracking a classic Haitian dad joke, Multer’s presence made every moment brighter. He showed that life’s challenges could be met with humor, love, and faith, and his memory will continue to inspire everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
