Joseph "Joe" Lombardi, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 73. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 12, 1952, to the late Americo and Amelia (Molinario) Lombardi, Joe grew into a man of great character, defined by his intelligence, kindness, and generosity.
Joe's early life in Boston set the stage for a lifetime of achievement and community involvement. A proud graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School's class of 1970, he carried his passion for learning and leadership to Providence College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business. Joe's entrepreneurial spirit led him to operate several successful businesses, particularly in the food, beverage, and real estate sectors. In the 1970s, he established Richard's Liquors in Readville, a venture that would expand to three locations across Massachusetts and serve as a testament to his business acumen.
In 1993, Joe married the love of his life, Billie Lombardi (née Warnock), and they shared a joyful union of 32 years. Their life together was filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Joe was a cherished member of his family, a devoted son to his late parents, and a treasured brother to Eugene Lombardi and his wife Joan of Barrington, Rhode Island, and Richard Lombardi and his fiancée Debbi of Readville. He was an adored uncle to Amanda King, Marissa Lombardi, Lance Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Coty Graham, and Austin
Warnock. As a brother-in-law, he held a special place in the hearts of Sharon Johnson and her husband Ray, Lisa Graham and her husband Greg, and Joey Warnock and his wife Jan. His warmth and generosity also extended to his grand nieces, grand nephews, in-laws, and a wide circle of close friends.
Joe's interests were as broad as his smile. He was an avid traveler who reveled in the beauty of the Caribbean and many other destinations. His joie de vivre was infectious, and he cherished the time spent with friends and family. After moving to Georgia, Joe embraced life on the lake, often taking Billie's family out on the boat for days filled with sun and laughter. He was a man who loved deeply, and his presence at family gatherings was always a source of joy and comfort.
Always ready to lend an ear or share advice, Joe was known for his long, engaging phone conversations, whether they were about business strategies or the simple pleasures of life. His ability to connect with others was unparalleled, and his counsel was sought by many.
Joe Lombardi's legacy is one of love, leadership, and a zest for life that inspired everyone he met. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to guide and uplift us. Joe's life was a testament to the power of kindness, the strength of family bonds, and the enduring impact of a generous heart. He will be profoundly missed, yet his memory will be cherished forever.
