Jean Devine Obituary

Jean P. Devine (Anderson) of Hyde Park passed peacefully on January 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 82.  Beloved wife of the late Paul R. Devine of 49 years.  Daughter of the late Lyle and Neva Anderson.  Devoted mother of David P. Devine and his companion Aimee Fitzgerald of Dedham and Barbara A. Devine and her husband Jeff Plouff of Salem.  Cherished sister of the late Fran Conant.  Loving "Grammy Jean" of Bridget Fasano and her husband David, Daniel Devine, Neva Payson, Nicholas Plouff, Miles Payson, Macey Plouff, and Will Fitzgerald.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in laws, and friends.

Our Mom Jean was born in Claremont, MN and went to the University of MN earning a degree as a Lab Technician. She moved to Florida after graduating and worked at South Florida Baptist Hospital where she met her longtime friend Linda who was from Winthrop. They stayed in Florida for a little over a year and then moved to Boston in @ 1963. This was supposed to be a temporary situation with their intention to move to Hawaii.  The universe had other plans and after our Mom met our Dad, Paul, she decided to stay in Boston.  Our parents married in 1966 and settled in Hyde Park where they raised their family and established a business, Savon Transmission, which is still operational under their son David.

Our Mom grew to love Boston and its surrounding areas. She was a huge Boston sports fan much to the chagrin of her Minnesota relatives. She was a very low maintenance, down to earth person, preferring jeans, and sweats to anything fancy. She was always open and caring and her door was always open (literally and figuratively)! After suffering health setbacks and a fall last January she moved to Salem with her daughter Barbara and family, but Hyde Park was truly her home. She will be missed by all, especially her seven grandchildren. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and please watch a game or two in memory of Jean!
