Higinio “Solo” Carrasquillo of the South End of Boston, passed peacefully on August 15, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78.Born in Loiza, Puerto Rico, Solo was proud of his roots and equally proud to be an American. He worked faithfully at MS Walker for over 30 years, known for his strong work ethic and dedication. After retirement, Solo was able to do what he loved most—feeding people—through a program called Loving Spoonfuls.A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Solo was generous and jovial, always ready with a quick joke, a warm meal, or a helping hand. He loved to cook—feeding others brought him joy—and he gave countless hours volunteering with the Salvation Army. A die-hard Yankees fan and lover of wrestling, Solo also brought energy and laughter wherever he went. He will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome.Solo was the beloved husband of Patricia Elizabeth Carrasquillo. Son of the late Juan and Felicita Carrasquillo. Loving father of Michelle (Dan) Canning, Elizabeth Palmarin (Joe Kelly), Kathleen (Bryan) Frausel, Stephanie (Nelson) Perez, and Marilyn (Matthew) Frascone. Cherished brother of Andrea, Felipe, Estefana, Benjamina, Anibal, Nestor, Ivan, Edwin, Ferdin, Telfia, Durvin, and Marisol. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren—Patricia, Joshua, Daniel, Julio, Alexandria, Emily, Kayla, Cristian, and Olivia—and 4 great-grandchildren: Isabella, Kenzi, Logan, and Catheryn, along with many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 10:00–11:00 AM at The Salvation Army, 1500 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02118. A service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at the family’s request.
