Gregory J. Horan, known affectionately as Greg to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at home in Hyde Park on September 27, 2024, at the age of 44. Born on November 26, 1979, in Norwood, MA, Greg was the cherished son of Diane (Doherty) Horan and the late Vernon Jollymore. He was the devoted brother of Dustin E. Horan and his wife Erin, and a loving nephew to James Doherty, his wife Judy, and their children, Kristen and Jennifer. Greg's warm presence and jovial spirit will be profoundly missed by his extensive family and a multitude of friends.

A lifelong resident of Hyde Park, Greg was a proud alumnus of Catholic Memorial High School, where he demonstrated his athletic prowess as a valued player on the varsity hockey team. His passion for the sport led him to play in the Junior Hockey League for the Boston Harbor Wolves, where he excelled for several years. Greg's dedication to hockey continued as he served as a Captain at Fitchburg State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. His commitment to education and sportsmanship were hallmarks of his character.

Beyond the rink, Greg was known for his unwavering work ethic. He applied his skills and knowledge as an administrator for the YMCA, where his contributions were not only valued by his colleagues but also by the community he served. Greg's involvement in the YMCA was a testament to his belief in the power of community organizations to make a difference in people's lives.

Greg's interests and hobbies were a reflection of his vibrant and engaging personality. He never missed a day at the gym, ensuring he stayed fit and active, which was a source of inspiration to many. A die-hard Boston Bruins fan, Greg lived and breathed hockey, and his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. His love for the sport was paralleled only by the love he had for his friends, with whom he shared countless unforgettable moments. Greg's sense of humor, kindness, and fun-loving nature made him a joy to be around.

Those who knew Greg admired him for his strength and perseverance in the face of life's challenges. He was seen as a pillar of resilience, always ready to face adversity with a smile and an unshakeable spirit. His role as a best friend to his brother, Dustin, was one he took to heart, providing unwavering support and camaraderie. Greg was also a loving son who took great care of his mother, Diane, exemplifying the depth of his compassion and the selflessness of his character.

Greg's legacy is one of love, laughter, and loyalty. His ability to light up a room with his presence and to lift the spirits of those around him was truly remarkable. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to others, the lives he touched, and the indelible mark he left on the world.

As we say goodbye to Gregory J. Horan, we celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Greg's spirit will live on through the stories shared, the laughter he sparked, and the profound impact he had on all who crossed his path.
