A Memorial Service will be held at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home 22 Oak Street in Hyde Park on Monday, June 5 at 11:00 am. Visiting hours Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Gerard C. Weidman, affectionately known as Gerry, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023, in Roslindale, Massachusetts. Born on May 23, 1942, in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, Gerry lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.
Gerry was the loving father of Carolyn M. Van Petten of Warren, Rhode Island, Elaine M. Grunewald and her husband Per of Stockholm, Sweden, and Steven A. Weidman and his wife Christine Galatis of Roslindale, Massachusetts. He was the proud grandfather of Lily and Grace Van Petten, Lukas and Knut Grunewald, and Corinne Weidman. Gerry was the brother of Clare Takayama and her late husband Richard of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Jeanne Kalaluhi of Hawaii, Joan Metras and her husband Steve of Charlton, Massachusetts, and the late M. Veronica Weidman of Falmouth, Massachusetts.
Gerry was a hardworking and dedicated individual. He was known by all for his fighting spirit and determination to succeed. Gerard loved his family deeply and actively supported many in his community. He was a long-term friend of Bill W., and his kindness and generosity touched the lives of countless individuals. Gerry was an avid football and baseball fan.
Gerry's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and community. His unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and work will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. As we celebrate his life and mourn his passing, we are reminded of the lasting impact he had on those around him and the legacy he leaves behind.
Rest in peace, Gerry. Your memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved you, and your spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
