Eileen S. (Zed) Younis

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening from 4-7 PM at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home 22 Oak Street Hyde Park.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at Holy Name Parish (1689 Centre St West Roxbury).  Interment at Mt Benedict Cemetery West Roxbury, relatives and friends invited.

Eileen Sadie Younis nee Zed passed away peacefully at the age of 102 on Sunday June 14th 2026 journeying home to reunite with her beloved husband, Joseph Thomas Younis and beloved granddaughter, Robin Younis. Originally from St. John, New Brunswick, Eileen moved to Boston to marry the love of her life,  Joe Younis. In West Roxbury, they settled into a comfortable life raising four children before again relocating to Reading, Mass. Eileen is survived by her loving and only daughter and son-in-law , Juliana and Peter Keaveney of West Roxbury and her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Antonette Younis of Westwood, Gregory Younis and Bobbi Starkey of Cedarville, and Robert and Theresa Younis of Newnan, GA.

 “Sitty” to nine adoring grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Eileen would tell you that her greatest achievement in life was her big family, all of whom she cared for and loved deeply. She loved music and could often be found cooking a feast of Lebanese food while listening to her favorite Neil Diamond songs. She attended many of his concerts through the years and was still dancing into her 90s. She was a marvel at the sewing machine and created many beautiful wedding dresses, graduation and prom dresses and, of course, First Communion dresses for her daughter and granddaughters. Her decorating skills matched those of Martha Stewart and she enjoyed hosting large groups of family and friends in her well appointed home. Her holiday “tablescapes” were unmatched. She was a supportive and encouraging mother and a doting grandmother, filling her grandchildrens’ childhoods with endless happy memories. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
