Earl W. Hamilton Jr., affectionately known as “Smokey”, passed away on July 28, 2023, at the age of 70. Born on January 15, 1953, in Milton, MA, Earl was a friendly and gentle soul whose positive impact on his community will not be forgotten.
Earl was the cherished son of Earl W. Hamilton Sr. and the late Eleanor (DiStasio), and the husband of Karen L. (Christie) Hamilton of Dedham. He was a devoted father to Shaun Hamilton and his wife Lauren of Carlisle, and immensely proud Grampy of Wyatt T. Hamilton. Earl came from a large, close-knit family and is also survived by his siblings Jane Desarro and her late husband David of Worcester, Roberta Hamilton of Texas, Robert Hamilton of Florida, Elaine Hamilton and her late husband Richard of Florida and James Hamilton and his wife Kerry of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Earl was a graduate of Hyde Park high school and was dedicated to his job as a union Teamster at the Stop & Shop supermarket warehouse.
Known for his gentle nature, big laugh and frequent jokes, Earl enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and loved making those around him smile. His interests were varied, yet he had a particular fondness for speaking with cherished friends and family members. He had no greater joy than talking about his grandson. Earl was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and was proud to be a sponsor or resource for many on their road to recovery.
Earl W. Hamilton Jr.’s warm spirit and amicability will indeed be missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will be remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Earl’s name to the Jimmy Fund.
