David J. Vozzella, known affectionately as Dave to his friends and family, passed away peacefully in his home in Walpole, MA, on February 28, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on February 21, 1965, in Boston, MA, Dave was the beloved son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (DiPietro) Vozzella, and a cherished sibling to his brothers and sisters.
A proud graduate of Xavierian Brothers High School, Dave dedicated over two decades of service as a Postal Worker for the U.S. Postal Service, a role he performed with diligence and a friendly demeanor until his retirement approximately ten years ago. Known for his loving, kind, and friendly nature, Dave was a man who effortlessly touched the lives of those around him.
Dave's life was marked by a rich tapestry of interests that brought joy to both himself and others. A keen player of Keno, he could often be found behind the bar at The Knights of Columbus and The Polish Club, where his warm smile and amiable conversation were as much a draw as the drinks he served. His passion for games extended to weekly Cribbage nights, where he was a staple every Monday in Dedham and every Tuesday in Needham, sharing laughter and camaraderie over the cards.
Casinos were another favorite haunt for Dave, especially Foxwoods, where he enjoyed the thrill of playing the slots. He cherished these outings as much as he did the time spent with his friends and old buddies from Xaverian. Dave was also an adept tax preparer, affectionately known as "The Tax Man" among his circle for his willingness to help friends navigate the complexities of their returns.
Dave's legacy is carried on by his loving family: his brother Robert W. Vozzella Jr. and wife Mary Ann of Arkansas; his brother Paul J. Vozzella and spouse Alan Trown of California; his brother Michael L. Vozzella and spouse Michael Silver of Illinois; his sister Anita L. Poncia and her late husband Dominic of Dedham; his sister Carole E. McLaughlin of Florida; and his sister Dianne M. Joyce and her husband Sean of West Roxbury. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, all of whom were blessed to know him.
David J. Vozzella lived a life rich in experiences and relationships. His absence will be deeply felt at the Cribbage tables, the bars of the clubs where he poured drinks, and in the hearts of the many he called friends. Dave's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared by those who loved him, the laughter that will echo in the places he frequented, and the kindness he spread so generously.
As we say farewell to Dave, we celebrate a life lived with love, a life that serves as a testament to the power of kindness and the enduring strength of family bonds. Dave's spirit, characterized by its warmth and generosity, will continue to inspire and guide us. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, leaving behind a legacy that will be honored and remembered by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
