Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 5-8 at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home, 22 Oak Street Hyde Park. A Funeral Service will be celebrated Friday morning at 11:00 AM at St. Matthews Syrian Orthodox Church, 149 Park Street, West Roxbury. Interment at the Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery relatives and friends invited.
Darlene (Hadayia) Gray-Sforza, aged 59, passed away on November 13, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and enduring friendships. Born on March 9, 1965, Darlene's life was one that touched many with its warmth and generosity.
A cherished daughter of the late James and Freda Hadayia, Darlene was a beacon of devotion and care within her family. Her love story with Charles Sforza blossomed into marriage in 2016, and together, they shared a partnership filled with mutual respect and admiration. Darlene was a devoted mother to her beloved son, Antonio Sforza of Byfield, whose life was greatly enriched by her unwavering support and affection.
Darlene's role as a grandmother was one she embraced with joy and tenderness, showering her grandchildren Keira, Mathias, Nathan, and Kayla with love and attention that knew no bounds. She was a cherished sister to James Hadayia and his wife Raylene of Dedham, Michael Hadayia of Worcester, Wendy Nordstrom and her husband David of Worcester, and Lena Antar of Norwood. Her familial bonds extended to her many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends, who will remember her for her open heart and welcoming spirit.
A proud graduate of Lawrence High School, class of 1984, Darlene's professional journey was marked by dedication and excellence. For over 25 years, she graced the Ritz Carlton in Boston with her presence, working in the Banquet room where her friendly demeanor made her a favorite among colleagues and guests alike. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to the world of real estate, where she began at Century 21 in Lynn before owning and operating Elite Realty and Broker in Byfield, Massachusetts, for approximately five years. Alongside her husband, she co-owned Sforza Construction, where her keen insight and business acumen were invaluable.
Darlene's interests were a reflection of her vibrant and loving nature. She treasured the time spent with her son, nurturing their bond throughout his life. Her passion for music found an outlet in her partnership at New Tone Recordings on the North Shore, where she was involved for many years. Lifelong friendships were a cornerstone of Darlene's life; she shared countless adventures and memories with her four best friends, Christine, Bill, and Christine, who had been by her side since grade school. In recent years, she formed a close and special friendship with Lisa, which brought her immense joy.
One of the most significant relationships in Darlene's life was with her mother-in-law, Joanne. The time they spent together was filled with laughter, heartfelt conversations, and mutual affection. Darlene's presence was a gift to those around her, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Darlene's essence can best be encapsulated by the words loving, kind, and friendly. She navigated the world with grace and a smile that could light up any room. Those who knew Darlene will carry forward the love she so freely gave, ensuring that her spirit continues to inspire and comfort.
