Clara A. Romanus passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 1, 2022 at the age of 90. Clara was the loving wife of the late Thomas F. Romanus for over 69 years. Beloved daughter of Michael and Marianna. Devoted mother of Thomas Jr and his wife Patricia of Plymouth and Paul and his wife Andrea of Nashua, New Hampshire. Sister of the late George Petrillo, Josie Gasbarro, Frank Petrillo, Genevieve DelConte, Carmella Nicotera, Helen Serra, Michael Petrillo and Angelina Nemiccolo. Loving Grandma of David Romanus of Concord.
Clara grew up in Readville the youngest of 9 siblings. She lived 81 of her 90 years at 78 Readville Street, the home she was born in. She spent the last 10 years of her life in Fuller Village. She and Tom, though reluctant to move from Readville would later say it was the best (and only) move they ever made. They met such nice neighbors and friends at Fuller Village and most importantly they were able to stay connected to St. Anne’s Parish.
Clara very much enjoyed family gatherings. The planning, preparations, the cooking, the gathering, the laughter and most importantly seeing everyone. Christmas and Thanksgiving at her house, cookouts in Wareham at Swift Ave and later at Crocker Ave, events at Aunt Rita’s and Uncle John’s. Clara looked forward to these times.
After retirement Clara and Tom spent time in Port Charlotte, Florida during the winter months. Not only did they enjoy the warmer weather but they had great times there with likeminded friends and family. That said, she always counted the days until they headed back home.
Because Clara was the youngest sibling she was doted on by her older sisters and brothers. She was also sometimes thought of as a big sister to some of her nieces and nephews. Clara passed away peacefully in her home in Milton with her sons by her side. She will be greatly missed by all.
