Charles L. White Jr. was born on February 13, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York, to Charles White Sr. and Eloise White, both of whom preceded him in death. Known affectionately as Butchie and Worm, Charles attended the New York Public School System where he excelled in track and basketball. After graduating from Canarsie High School, he pursued further education at John Jay College for Criminal Justice and received his Associate’s.
Life took various turns for Charles including the passing of his son Ramasis, and his late sister Lisa White, but it was in his later years that he made a profound transformation. Discovering Narcotics Anonymous was a pivotal moment that changed his life for the better. Charles married and relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where he started a family with Randy Benton and had their beloved daughter Tiara, whom he cherished deeply.
Charles was a devoted father. He would always do whatever was in his power to support his beloved daughter. He always spoke highly of her to whomever would listen! Any accomplishments she made - no matter how big or small – he was so proud to mention it to all friends and family. They had a very loving and supportive father-daughter relationship. She was truly the world to him and he made sure everyone knew it.
Devoting himself to helping others, Charles became a Substance Abuse Counselor, sponsoring and guiding many individuals into rehabilitation and accompanying them to NA meetings. He had a generous heart and a playful spirit, known for his humor and love of fun especially the casino! Charles took pride in his appearance, always dressing impeccably and even selling stylish glasses and contact lenses.
In addition to Tiara and her husband Val, Charles is survived by his three sisters - Antoinette (husband Leroy), Linda (husband Calvin), and Dolores - and two brothers, Robin (Cookie) and Ricky White. He also leaves behind two aunts, Leila Jamison and Coretta Summers, as well as eight nephews - Roland, Randy, Rasheen, Ryan, Rob, Ramel, and Russell - and four nieces - Crystal, Natasha, Apryl, and Kendra. He will be deeply missed by a host of great-nephews, nieces, friends, and family.
Charles lived by the motto, "It's not how you start, it's how you end in life." He concluded his journey with greatness, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion.
