Anna Leikauskas Obituary

Anna Marie Leikauskas (Kennedy) of Peabody formerly of Hyde Park passed peacefully on October 23, 2025 at the age of 96.  Beloved wife of the late Edward J. Leikauskas of 51 years.  Devoted mother of Richard Leikauskas and his wife Darryln of Stoneham and the late Robert Leikauskas and his surviving wife Judy of Hamilton.  Cherished sister of Kay Watts and her late husband Whyo.  Loving "Grammy" of Jillian Leikauskas and her husband Max Krieger of Vermont and Adele Leikauskas of Stoneham.  Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Marie had a very active lifestyle volunteering and leading. She joined the American Legion Auxiliary in 1954 and held all the offices up to District Director of Suffolk County Council before becoming a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Board. Marie organized and chaired many themed fund-raising events throughout her life. She volunteered over 7000 hours for the VA and was the VA Hospital Chairman for Suffolk County Council. At the same time, Marie worked full time and for 32 years worked at the Boston VA Medical Center. She assisted the Chief of Endocrinology for 20 years, and later assisted with research studies and managing the clinic.

Marie was a gifted dancer whose talent shone brightly alongside her beloved husband Ed. Together, they won numerous dance contests creating cherished memories until Ed’s passing in 2001. After relocating to Brooksby Village in Peabody, Marie kept the rhythm alive by joining their “Dancing with the Stars” event—often finding herself teaching her partners a few steps! Beyond the dance floor, Marie nurtured a lifelong passion for doll collecting. Over more than four decades, she amassed an extraordinary collection of several thousand dolls (yes, truly!), with Shirley Temple dolls holding a special place in her heart. Marie cherished her Friday nights with her sister Kay, browsing the quirky aisles of Building 19 and other bargain havens before treating themselves to a cozy dinner out. Each October, she delighted in taking her grandchildren, Jillian and Adele, on whimsical strolls through Salem, Massachusetts—soaking in the festive costumes and savoring the enchantment of the annual witch’s tea. Some of her happiest moments were spent with family at the beloved old place in Warren, New Hampshire, where laughter and memories filled the mountain air. She was a small woman with a very big presence and she will be greatly missed.
