Visiting hours will be held Monday (May 6) morning from 9-10:30 at the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home 22 Oak Street Hyde Park followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Precious Blood Church Hyde Park at 11. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett, relatives and friends invited.
Anthony L. Bonanno, cherished patriarch, master craftsman and educator, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024, at the venerable age of 92. Born on March 7, 1932, in Boston, MA, Anthony led a life marked by devotion to his family, a passion for building, and a legacy of imparting knowledge and skill to countless students.
Anthony was the loving husband of Barbara (Lupi) Bonanno for 38 wonderful years. He is survived by his devoted children: Joseph Bonanno of Weymouth, Linda Crowley and her husband Jack of Sharon, Lisa Casale and her husband Joseph of Westwood, Anthony Bonanno and his wife Penny of Texas, Marianne Silowan and her husband Paul of Weymouth. He was the cherished father of the late John A. Bonanno, and brother of the late John “Gino” Bonanno and the late Joanne M. Bresnahan. He will be remembered as the loving "Grandpa" to his 11 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren, as well as many in-laws, cousins and friends.
Professionally, Anthony built a successful carpentry business, building and remodeling homes as well as creating custom cabinetry. Later, he decided to utilize his artistry, experience and expertise to teach others. He returned to college in his 40s, setting an example for his family and his future students that it’s never too late to pursue one’s passions. Anthony taught carpentry and mechanical drafting to high school students in both Milton and Scituate.
His lifelong interests included a love for all animals, taking care of his well-tended garden, woodworking, and fine furniture making. Anthony continued creating in his beloved workshop well into his 90s. His legacy of rocking horses and Adirondack chairs will be cherished for generations to come.
Those who knew Anthony best will remember him as a loving, handy and creative soul. His memory will forever live in the hearts of those he leaves behind, as he rests in peace.
